Back To School/College Grunge Looks

Jul 25, 2014

Since my old grunge post is still kicking in views (almost a year later) I twisted things around a bit this week and made today's back to school post...GRUNGE! If you're out of school, no worries!....this post still pertains to you too :)

Grunge fashion is still pretty big, and a lot of stores are continuing to bring out some pretty awesome merchandise for it. As a child of the 90's I am definitely not complaining! It's a great, casual style...which makes it perfect for back to school looks! Especially those long lectures in college. Nothing is worse than a 3 hr lecture in an uncomfortable outfit. So to get you started on your Fall wardrobe, here are some grunge outfit ideas and items I recommend checking out in stores.

(Psst) For those of you out of school, the grunge style is great for festivals, lounging around, BBQs, or a casual movie night out with the girls. I personally love this style because you can pull it off at a range of ages.

1) Prom Queen Tank, Forever 21 // 2) Shorts, BlackFive (Similar
3) Suede Flats, Forever 21 // 4) Bag, Sole Society // 5) Sunglasses, 80's Purple

1) Top, Topshop // 2) Backpack, Asos
3) Jelly Shoes, American Apparel // 4) Shorts, Topshop

Talking about the 90's...have you guys seen the 'Fancy' Iggy music video that's inspired from the movie Clueless? I'm not a fan of rap but I looove the video. The only problem is the cell phones in the vid need to be GIGANTIC. Anyone with me?

What's your favorite grunge item to shop for? Have a great weekend!!

Shopping Picks & Favorites for July!

Jul 16, 2014

Hey guys! Today I will be sharing with you my favorite shopping picks for July. Why? I've seen a few posts like this around the blogging community and I think it's really fun! You basically post about all the things you've been drooling over at stores for the month.

Talking about drooling...my boyfriend took me to Chili's last night and I had my very first lava cake. They are amazing!! Have any of you guys tried one? It was like a little masterpiece too...it looked just like a volcano. The kid in me was pretty happy about that ;) But anyway, back to my favorites!

1) H&M - $17.95 : This top looks high fashion and has French written on it. Sold!
2) BaubleBar - $28 : I dunno about you guys but I've loved geodes since I was kid. Most geode rings are pretty stingy...as in a really small, flat geode. This is one of the best ones I've seen so far. It's definitely a statement piece too which is a plus!
3) DV by Dolce Vita Joust - $49.97 : I'm really into the style of Clarks shoes minus the price. These ankle boots are very similar to the materials and colors used in their desert boot and the cost can't be beat.
4) 'Polka Rain', Society 6 - $35 : I'm a big fan of fashion prints, and this one by Karen Hofstetter is one of my favorites. It reminds me of one of my favorite people too....Audrey Hepburn! The smallest size it's available in is an 8x10. I think it's a great piece to keep at your desktop or above your vanity.

5) Maybelline Nudes Palette, Ulta - $10 : This palette recently came out and it's well worth the ten bucks in my opinion! It includes a great mix of matte and shiny eyeshadows that are perfect for day and night looks. The colors go great with my skin-tone and the back of the case explains multiple ways to apply it.
6) Harvey Prince Hello Body Cream , Birchbox - $22 : I got this lotion in my latest Birchbox and it smells so delicious I can't get over it. If you love citrus scents then this is for you. I'll definitely be purchasing it in the future!
7) OPI Nail Polish in Gargantuan Green Grape, Target : This is one of my favorite nail polishes for Spring. The pale green doesn't look minty or like puke (which I hate!). The color also makes coral rings and bracelets really pop.
8) Not Your Mother's Dry Shampoo, Walmart - $5: I've tried a lot...and I mean a lot of dry shampoos. Just because I have thick hair that looks flat all the time. This is the best one I've used in terms of the volume I can achieve in my hair from it.

Wishing you all a wonderful week! What are some of your favorite items this July? Feel free to share in the comments below!!

How I Style: The Romper

Jul 5, 2014

Hey everyone! Hope you're having a 4th of July weekend! I was casually going through Target the other day getting Tiki torches when I came across this romper.  If any of you know about my coral and royal blue obsession lately....you pretty much know it wasn't meant to be on the rack long when I passed it.

Glamify Your Work Space!

Jun 25, 2014

Our work-space is kind of our own little haven. Even if it's an area where we just sit on the computer; we still decorate it with a pencil cup and some Post-It notes. But did you ever realize that you could decorate it and make it less...well...like a cubicle? I've recently been updating my own desk with fun things to keep me inspired, while I blog on my laptop. It might sound silly but having a really fun desk can completely change how you feel about sitting there. So today I've compiled some of my favorite tips to help "Glam-ify" the workspace you already have! No need to buy a new desk or lamp. Ready?
1) Do It Yourself - Probably the easiest way to update anything in your home is by doing it yourself. So if you really hate say, the cork board in your desk area...and plan on throwing it out....reconsider! Pinterest is a dictionary of great tutorials. That simple cork board could look amazing covered in a fun fabric or a coat of white paint. Plus, when you get compliments on it you can say you made it yourself! So remember...before you say goodbye to anything on your desk for good, keep this in mind!

2) Color Is Everything - A lot of desks are usually decorated pretty uniform. As in silver accessories, normal pencils and boring pens. Adding something as simple as a pop of color to your work space can make it a lot more interesting! You can choose one large item like a vase to hold some flowers, or a bunch of small items like a collection of bright pens, post-its or a some colorful tacks for your pin board. And if you're really up for it you could take that lonely wood chair sitting in your garage, paint it a bright color and replace it with your computer chair.

2) Pay Attention To Texture - Textured items are the more subtle way to add some oomph to your desk. Think hammered metal, leather or a rustic wood frame for your photos. My favorite place to find some of these little treasures is at TJMaxx or HomeGoods. I've found some really unique items for my desk...including a black leather frame for $3!

3) Add a Whimsical Touch - Life can be really stressful, and because of that it's necessary to keep something fun on your desk. Just looking over at it and smiling can be enough to alleviate the daily stress. This can be something as simple as some crazy scissors or a fun tape dispenser. It can also be something really unique, like a vintage phone!

Hope I helped some of you guys improve your work spaces! Let me know if you'd like more posts like this in the future! Have a great week!
