Find Your Cozy/Chic Sweater For Fall!

Oct 25, 2013

Hey Frugalista's!

A big essential that I love for Fall is a neutral sweater. But not a boring neutral sweater. We women need some fun in our style! Am I right? There are a lot of great neutral sweaters out right now that are anything but simple. They are pretty much an essential in my book because they can be incorporated with tons of outfits and mixed with all kinds of jewelry and accessories. All without making your appearance dull!

Here are some of my favorites out right now. Prices range from $18 to $60. I understand we all have different budgets so I've made more of a range this time with prices!

By the way, are any of you dressing up for Halloween? I bought some galaxy suspenders from Forever 21. I'm going to be a super nerd this year. If any of you are stuck on outfits, there are some great low budget options on Pinterest. My other favorite is a burglar. Just wear a striped shirt, black pants, a beanie and carry around a "money" bag. Simple but cute!

Have a great weekend guys!

90s Grunge Fashion For Less

Oct 18, 2013

Being a child of the 90's, I was beyond floored when I heard that grunge fashion was back! The 90's were amazing. Cartoons weren't super edited to make parents happy and artists like Nirvana came into the picture. You could go to school looking like you got out of bed and be in style! Don't forget that we could play baseball in the street. Now you never see that happen. If I could go back for a day i absolutely would! Anyone else wanna come with me when I figure out how to? Hmm?

So..because of all that, I thought it would be fun to make a set of my favorite grunge pieces out right now. That is, all the ones we can buy for less!

*NOTE* This is an older post, but a lot of you guys really like it. Click here for to see my most current grunge posts. I post grunge stuff all the time! :)

How do i wear it?
Grunge is an easy look to pull off. Never look too put together. If you do, add something that you would never think to put with your outfit. For example, a nice dress with combat boots. Or in my set above, a random snow hat. Remember, grunge is about a few things. Dark florals, velvet textures, plaids plaids and more plaids, chunky shoes and hats (usually bowlers or beanies). Oh, and I don't recommend this look AT ALL  for work or formal functions!

Easy Ways to Update Your Wardrobe

Oct 11, 2013

Today's post is about something I just experienced last week. I went to switch out my closet from summer clothing to fall clothing. But....eek...I soon discovered that my fall wardrobe was duller than dull. I guess I went crazy cleaning out my clothing or something? Have any of you had this happen? I only have black, gray and neutral colors left!

So...when our wardrobe lacks color, it's best to supply it. Although it might feel like it, it doesn't mean we have to go out and buy completely new shirts, pants and handbags. Here are some easy ways I found to update a boring wardrobe!

Easy Ways to Update Your Wardrobe

 Colorful Scarf
Try one in a silky texture and you'll be able to use it for more than chilly weather. Scarves can help easily dress up an outfit, or make it comfortably laid back. I especially like them over cardigans, but that's just me!

 Statement Necklace
These are really popular right now so they come in a large assortment of colors. Try a bold one and watch how many times you'll end up reaching for it. I use mine a lot more than I thought I would! They can quickly make a dull outfit really interesting which is great when you're on the run!

 Bold Loafers
As a lot of you know, I'm all about two for one deals. This is one of them! :) Mens inspired clothing is not only on trend for the fall, but a pair of loafers in a bright color can instantly make an outfit chic. Same goes for animal prints (leopard is my fav.)!

 Patterned Pants
I love these because they are very easy to incorporate into your wardrobe. The texture allows them to be easily dressed up for work with heels or dressed down with a t-shirt at home. The best part of all? They really stand out!

How to Shop Thrift Sales!

Oct 5, 2013

Where I live, October arrives with thrift, yard, and rummage sales galore. I swear I've been raised around them since I only had my babysitting money to work with as a teen. I think it's paid off because I've found a lot of bargains at these sales. The picture above includes some great deals I found this week all in one shopping trip. Loft, Free People and a Designer belt!

I'm not going to lie...with these kind of sales comes a lot of junk. The process can get pretty messy and time consuming. But always remember that someone's trash is another's treasure. If you have the patience, you too can find great bargains! Here's how!

Rules to Follow:

1) Be Early  - If you really want a deal, it's good to get there before the crowds come. The early bird does get the worm after all. I have gotten some insane deals because of this.

2) Look Through Everything - Often the best bargain buys are hidden where shoppers don't tend to look. I find that a good amount of  people don't have the patience to search to the bottom of a bin or look under piles of items. But patience is key at these sales if you want to find something great.

3) Question the Price - Before you even let yourself see the price...think to yourself, "What price would I pay for this?" Then check the tag. If the price is nowhere near what you'd pay, forget it. It's not a deal and you know it.

4) Check the Quality - A $100 sweater might be on a rack for 5 bucks, but it doesn't mean that it's really a deal. Check for stains, tears or rips. I have run into many sellers that like to prey on people. Be smart and don't let it happen.

5) Will I use it?  - Avoid the impulse buys. It's never a deal if it's going to sit in your closet and collect dust. Think about how many times you will honestly use it. If it's more than a couple times, you are good to go!
