New Years Eve Outfit : Glitter Skirt & Crop Top

Dec 31, 2014

The Winter Holidays include some of the most show-stopping parties, where wearing loads of sequins and sparkle is actually looked up upon. Glitter eyebrows? Yes. Oversized chandelier earrings? Yes! Unfortunately, the outfits have also become pretty predictable. This year I longed to put a spin on things and try a party look that could really pack a punch...

Cozy Chic | Chambray Top & Mixed Jewel Tones

Nov 20, 2014

Today's post was created thanks to some outfits I saw on Pinterest. Yes, I said it. I'm normally not inspired by Pinterest outfits, but today was a different kind of day I guess! The outfits used a mixture of jewel tones and autumn browns, and it really inspired me when I created my outfit today.

I love that this look is slightly risky as well. Mixing jewel tones? It sounds cliche! Growing up I was told to never mix gold with silver, or blue with black. But I obviously didn't listen. As some of you know, I was the kid that grew up wearing heart shaped sunglasses everywhere I went....even in the winter.

So my take on today's outfit was to pair my favorite chambray shirt with wine colored pants, an emerald green bag and some polished brown boots. I think the deep aubergine color of the pants really help emphasize the emerald in the bag, as well as the tortoise toggle! To make the outfit a little more fun I also added some of my favorite jewelry. I hope you guys love it as much as I do!

Top: Cotton On (old), similar here
Pants: American Eagle
Riding Boots: Gilt (old), similar here
Handbag: Target
Ring Set: In Pink
Necklace: In Pink (old), similar here

**FYI: All In Pink jewelry is 40% off with the code FORTYNOV ....whoo!

Hope all is going well with everyone! Wishing you all a wonderful week as always! Thanks so much to my latest followers! I'm at 110 on Pinterest and I almost had a heart attack when I saw it.

Aubergine Fall Fashion

Nov 2, 2014

Aubergine is a key color for Fall that evokes a royal sophistication. The color can be found in many Fall/Winter collections, including one of my favorite designers, Dolce & Gabbana. Aubergine has always reminded me of some of my favorite elements of the holiday season. The hot brewed tea, dark cranberries and wine colored leaves. So to feed my love for the color, I put together a list of some beautiful, affordable Aubergine pieces in stores right now, and more importantly-how to wear them!

Coat: BlackFive, $58.99 // Eye Shadow: Clinique, $15
Lip Crayon: Forever 21, $8 // Lip Cream in Copenhagen: NYX, $6
Floral Headband (top) : Miss Selfridge, $18 //  Floral Headband (bottom) : Forever 21, $6.90
Mini Skirt: Topshop, $55  //  Heels: Gilt, $99 (My invite link to the site is here)
Dress: Dorothy Perkins, $35 // Purse: Nine West, $99

Aubergine also reminds me of MAC lipstick in the 90's. Isn't that kind of weird? I have fond memories of always wanting a deep plum MAC lipstick when I was little, and being entirely too young to own one. Think I wasn't fashionable when I was 5? Don't be mistaken. I was going through a box of my old things last week from Kindergarten and the amount of sunglasses, cheap purses and beaded necklaces I had hoarded was unbelievable! I should definitely post a picture of it someday because it's not only hilarious, but proof that my love of fashion started very, very early.

Anyway now that I've rambled (sorry about that), here are some tips for creating the perfect Aubergine outfit of your own....

How Do I Wear It?:

1) Add Neutrals - When in doubt, mix Aubergine with what's already in your closet. Black, whites and neutrals all work perfectly. A tan color can really make your outfit look seasonal too!

2) Monochrome -  If you're more daring, have your entire outfit be based on one shade of Aubergine. From your heels to your lipstick! The result will be stunning and quite simple to pull off!

White Blouse  + Black Purse + Black Heels + Skirt = Sophisticated Lady!

Wishing you all a wonderful week! How are you enjoying Fall so far? Let me know below in the comments!

Boho Grunge Outfit: Wool Hat & Buckled Boots

Oct 21, 2014

An essential of Fall fashion for me is to not only incorporate cold weather essentials into your outfits, but be relaxed. Have your scarf loose, cuff those pants a bit, and wear your hair all messy in a bun. It's an effortless look that's surprisingly chic. I think it's because Fall is a time of festivals, fairs and Oktoberfests, where it isn't necessary to get dressed up. When it comes to colors, I like to try for neutral, gray, black and fall jewel tones. Have any of you seen the Aubergine colors in clothing lately? It's gorgeous!

My favorite season has always been Fall, so I definitely didn't complain when I had to bring out my giant bin of scarves, hats and boots! Just so you know...most of the bin is full of boots. I'm a shoe fiend and I know it. I actually added some new Fall outerwear to my closet pretty recently. Both my boots (yes...more) and hat were impulse buys on a trip to the mall. They go together really well and I never even planned on it! Don't you love it when things just happen like that?

Fall 2014 Drugstore Nail Polish Picks

Sep 28, 2014

Hey guys! Today's post is a little different, but I'm gonna give it a try and see if you guys like it. If you follow my Instagram you'll know I'm a massive nail polish junkie. I've been really impressed by this Fall's nail polish collections and want to share some of my drugstore favorites!

Before I start, let me note that I've only featured drugstore brands that I love the quality of and have tested out myself. I find they tend to stay on longer than other polishes, and can withstand well with me working with my hands all day. My personal favorite is Essie, and although I know it costs more...if you feel stuck between a polish I'll always recommend it first! For me, it has always dried in under a minute, which is essential with a busy lifestyle.

Now let's get to the good stuff!

{From Top Left Clockwise}
1) Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Spice Age // 2) Revlon Metallic Nail Enamel in Copper Penny
3) Loreal Color Riche in After Hours // 4) Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Grey Area
5) Revlon Nail Enamel in Seductive // 6) OPI Nordic Collection Nail Polish in How Great Is Your Dane?
7)  Essie Nail Polish in The Perfect Cover Up // 8) Revlon Nail Enamel in Divine

Note: Ruffian is not sold at drugstores. I got it from Birchbox. But I love it so much for Fall I had to include it!

What color polish is your favorite for Fall? Let me know below!
Wishing you all a wonderful week, and as always, thanks so much to all my followers! :)

Spotted: Dalmation Loafers and Cobalt Skirt

Sep 21, 2014

Hey guys! Hope you're all having a fantastic week!

I bought these dalmation print loafers a few weeks ago and been trying to figure out how to wear them. I mean yeah, I can go the usual jeans and t-shirt route...but I wanted to challenge myself! So I shopped my closet and came across a cobalt blue skater skirt and white blouse that turned out being perfect for them. I didn't think it would work at first but I gave it a shot, and I'm really happy with how the outfit turned out. I hope you guys love it as much as I do!

Oh and sorry for the photos being kind of grainy. I'm guessing something was smudged on the camera...so I had to try and sharpen them. Lesson learned!

Little Black Dress

Sep 8, 2014

If you’re on a budget and want to buy a piece that never goes out of style, you definitely want to go for a little black dress (LBD).  I read this years ago in a magazine and thought it sounded like a big fat lie. Everything goes out of style at some point! Including those awful gaucho pants I had to buy. But I gave it a try and bought a JCrew dress on the sale rack for my cousin’s wedding. That was maybe 6 years ago? Today it’s still hanging in my closet (doesn’t fit though lol) and yes, it’s still in style! When I hit up a recent H&M sale, I decided to buy a casual one to wear back and forth to school. I've worn it religiously and love it so much that I’m sharing it with you today!

Summer Casual: Vintage Tee & Boho Shorts

Aug 25, 2014

Hey guys! I decided to share with you one of my favorite casual looks for August. It's super comfy and has some really cute details that make it fun! My sandals have this awesome snake print on them that's really unique, and the laser cutout shorts make me feel fancy any time of the day. It's an outfit that's quick to put together for those days you don't want to put much into your outfit.

When I was younger I thought that fashion was never meant to be comfortable. Especially when I was introduced to heels! What a pain they were at first! But thankfully, I learned over time that chic casual looks are easily achieved when you pay attention to two important details...

1) Fabric/ Materials - A lot of fabrics are more cozy to wear than others. We wouldn't be caught wearing leather pajamas for a reason! Some of my favorite comfortable materials to wear are fleece and cotton. My least favorite is wool. Times a thousand!!

2) Style & Fit - The fit of the clothing can really help an outfit feel laid-back. I like to generally try and include one loose or over-sized piece into my comfy outfits. If you wish to wear jeans search for ones in a boyfriend style. Just remember to keep one piece oversized and the rest of your outfit more fitted. This keeps your look balanced, instead of frumpy.

Top: H&M // Shorts: TJMaxx, (Almost Exact)
Jacket: Gap [old] , (Almost Exact) // Sandals: Target

Pack a Punch: Colorful College Bags & Backpacks

Aug 14, 2014

Hey guys! Hope everyone is having a great week! One thing I've always loved about this time of year were the back to school sales. Mainly because I'm a stationary addict...but also because of all the new backpacks! I really gravitate towards dark totes and backpacks, and last year I decided to go out of the norm and purchase something colorful instead! I got a tote that was navy, orange and pink with an aztec design. To my surprise it turned out to be one of my favorite bags ever. It went well with so many outfits...especially the darker ones in Winter! Now I'm all for owning colorful totes and backpacks.

If you've never tried one out yourself, I highly recommend you give it a shot! Here are some of my top choices out in stores right now. Some of the bags are a little more expensive, but splurging a little on them can be worth it. The pricier bags are made with better materials, and are likely to last longer.

>>BAGGU backpacks are 40% off until August 19th with the code BACK2SCHOOL...making it only $16!

Discounts? Yes Please!
  •  BAGGU backpacks are 40% off until August 19th with the code BACK2SCHOOL...reducing the price to $16!
  • ModCloth has free shipping on orders over $50.
  • Zappos (selling the Jansport backpack) always has free shipping and returns.

What color bag do you plan on wearing this semester? Let me know in the comments below!

Boho Chic | Floral Kimono Jacket and Acid Wash Shorts

Aug 4, 2014

Hey guys! I can't lie...I'm pretty upset that it's already August. Just the idea of wearing sweaters in a few months is enough to give me the chills! That's exactly why I decided to buy a kimono a few weeks ago. I think I drove my boyfriend crazy in my search for the perfect one, but it was worth it! Kimonos are generally made with light materials to keep you just warm enough while those Fall temps close in. In other words it's the perfect piece for late September! Plus, you can't go wrong with the effortless boho vibe they radiate!

Back To School/College Grunge Looks

Jul 25, 2014

Since my old grunge post is still kicking in views (almost a year later) I twisted things around a bit this week and made today's back to school post...GRUNGE! If you're out of school, no worries!....this post still pertains to you too :)

Grunge fashion is still pretty big, and a lot of stores are continuing to bring out some pretty awesome merchandise for it. As a child of the 90's I am definitely not complaining! It's a great, casual style...which makes it perfect for back to school looks! Especially those long lectures in college. Nothing is worse than a 3 hr lecture in an uncomfortable outfit. So to get you started on your Fall wardrobe, here are some grunge outfit ideas and items I recommend checking out in stores.

(Psst) For those of you out of school, the grunge style is great for festivals, lounging around, BBQs, or a casual movie night out with the girls. I personally love this style because you can pull it off at a range of ages.

1) Prom Queen Tank, Forever 21 // 2) Shorts, BlackFive (Similar
3) Suede Flats, Forever 21 // 4) Bag, Sole Society // 5) Sunglasses, 80's Purple

1) Top, Topshop // 2) Backpack, Asos
3) Jelly Shoes, American Apparel // 4) Shorts, Topshop

Talking about the 90's...have you guys seen the 'Fancy' Iggy music video that's inspired from the movie Clueless? I'm not a fan of rap but I looove the video. The only problem is the cell phones in the vid need to be GIGANTIC. Anyone with me?

What's your favorite grunge item to shop for? Have a great weekend!!

Shopping Picks & Favorites for July!

Jul 16, 2014

Hey guys! Today I will be sharing with you my favorite shopping picks for July. Why? I've seen a few posts like this around the blogging community and I think it's really fun! You basically post about all the things you've been drooling over at stores for the month.

Talking about drooling...my boyfriend took me to Chili's last night and I had my very first lava cake. They are amazing!! Have any of you guys tried one? It was like a little masterpiece too...it looked just like a volcano. The kid in me was pretty happy about that ;) But anyway, back to my favorites!

1) H&M - $17.95 : This top looks high fashion and has French written on it. Sold!
2) BaubleBar - $28 : I dunno about you guys but I've loved geodes since I was kid. Most geode rings are pretty stingy...as in a really small, flat geode. This is one of the best ones I've seen so far. It's definitely a statement piece too which is a plus!
3) DV by Dolce Vita Joust - $49.97 : I'm really into the style of Clarks shoes minus the price. These ankle boots are very similar to the materials and colors used in their desert boot and the cost can't be beat.
4) 'Polka Rain', Society 6 - $35 : I'm a big fan of fashion prints, and this one by Karen Hofstetter is one of my favorites. It reminds me of one of my favorite people too....Audrey Hepburn! The smallest size it's available in is an 8x10. I think it's a great piece to keep at your desktop or above your vanity.

5) Maybelline Nudes Palette, Ulta - $10 : This palette recently came out and it's well worth the ten bucks in my opinion! It includes a great mix of matte and shiny eyeshadows that are perfect for day and night looks. The colors go great with my skin-tone and the back of the case explains multiple ways to apply it.
6) Harvey Prince Hello Body Cream , Birchbox - $22 : I got this lotion in my latest Birchbox and it smells so delicious I can't get over it. If you love citrus scents then this is for you. I'll definitely be purchasing it in the future!
7) OPI Nail Polish in Gargantuan Green Grape, Target : This is one of my favorite nail polishes for Spring. The pale green doesn't look minty or like puke (which I hate!). The color also makes coral rings and bracelets really pop.
8) Not Your Mother's Dry Shampoo, Walmart - $5: I've tried a lot...and I mean a lot of dry shampoos. Just because I have thick hair that looks flat all the time. This is the best one I've used in terms of the volume I can achieve in my hair from it.

Wishing you all a wonderful week! What are some of your favorite items this July? Feel free to share in the comments below!!

How I Style: The Romper

Jul 5, 2014

Hey everyone! Hope you're having a 4th of July weekend! I was casually going through Target the other day getting Tiki torches when I came across this romper.  If any of you know about my coral and royal blue obsession lately....you pretty much know it wasn't meant to be on the rack long when I passed it.

Glamify Your Work Space!

Jun 25, 2014

Our work-space is kind of our own little haven. Even if it's an area where we just sit on the computer; we still decorate it with a pencil cup and some Post-It notes. But did you ever realize that you could decorate it and make it less...well...like a cubicle? I've recently been updating my own desk with fun things to keep me inspired, while I blog on my laptop. It might sound silly but having a really fun desk can completely change how you feel about sitting there. So today I've compiled some of my favorite tips to help "Glam-ify" the workspace you already have! No need to buy a new desk or lamp. Ready?
1) Do It Yourself - Probably the easiest way to update anything in your home is by doing it yourself. So if you really hate say, the cork board in your desk area...and plan on throwing it out....reconsider! Pinterest is a dictionary of great tutorials. That simple cork board could look amazing covered in a fun fabric or a coat of white paint. Plus, when you get compliments on it you can say you made it yourself! So remember...before you say goodbye to anything on your desk for good, keep this in mind!

2) Color Is Everything - A lot of desks are usually decorated pretty uniform. As in silver accessories, normal pencils and boring pens. Adding something as simple as a pop of color to your work space can make it a lot more interesting! You can choose one large item like a vase to hold some flowers, or a bunch of small items like a collection of bright pens, post-its or a some colorful tacks for your pin board. And if you're really up for it you could take that lonely wood chair sitting in your garage, paint it a bright color and replace it with your computer chair.

2) Pay Attention To Texture - Textured items are the more subtle way to add some oomph to your desk. Think hammered metal, leather or a rustic wood frame for your photos. My favorite place to find some of these little treasures is at TJMaxx or HomeGoods. I've found some really unique items for my desk...including a black leather frame for $3!

3) Add a Whimsical Touch - Life can be really stressful, and because of that it's necessary to keep something fun on your desk. Just looking over at it and smiling can be enough to alleviate the daily stress. This can be something as simple as some crazy scissors or a fun tape dispenser. It can also be something really unique, like a vintage phone!

Hope I helped some of you guys improve your work spaces! Let me know if you'd like more posts like this in the future! Have a great week!

Crochet Festival Style

Jun 13, 2014

Hey guys! Hope you're all having a wonderful week!

I don't know about any of you... but all of the summer music festivals really have me crushing on crochet styles right now. Crochet is perfect for summer and warm weather because it's breathable, delicate and romantic with a bohemian vibe. It can be used to show a flirtatious amount of your skin, add texture to an outfit, or be used as a focal piece.

With that in mind, I made a compilation of my favorite crochet style clothing and accessories out right now to share with you guys...

1) Top, Target-$16.99 2) Shorts, H&M-$17.95 3) Oxford Flats, Pink Ice-$24.99
4) Wedges, Lord & Taylor- $39.48  5) Bracelet, Topshop-$20 6) Headband, Asos-$15.24

*This whole outfit minus the pair of wedges is less than $100. Sweet!*

My personal favorite are those wedges. Not that I'd personally be able to walk in them with my bad dexterity...but a girl can drool! Have any of you bought crochet pieces yet? I'd love to hear!

Show a little more, spend a LOT less.

May 28, 2014

The hot weather is here and it's time to start bringing on the summer posts! A pro about summer is all the great new nautical styles. The con? Some of those styles are so expensive! Do I want to spend $120 on anchor shoes I'm going to wear for a few months? No thanks. So I went on a hunt for some great nautical and summer themed items for less. Here are some of my favorites...

1) Seaside Striped Tote, Forever 21- $14.80 : I think this is a perfect tote bag for summer, at a price that's pretty crazy. In the summer totes are a must for me. Whether it's for the beach, the pool or just a last minute day trip out with your friends. I love how the handles look like boat ropes! I think that's what won me over about this one to be honest.

2 & 3) Swim Top, Target-$17.99 // Swim Bottom, Target-$15  : Target has very durable swimwear that keeps it's color for a while (at least mine have!). That's especially good when you swim in a lot of pools with chlorine. This palm leaf print is really popular for the summer and can be seen this season in some big designer lines. Proenza Schouler and Alice + Olivia just to name a few! Oh and just a quick tip...after swimming make sure to rinse your suit in water before laying it out to dry. It helps any suit keep it's color much longer.

4) Starfish Stud Earrings, C Wonder- $38  : With hot weather, swimming, sunscreen and sweat (yeah gross but it's true) you don't want to wear a lot of jewelry. Especially statement earrings! These studs go with the nautical theme of summer and can still keep your look dressy. The gold and sparkles will also look really pretty in the sunlight.

5 & 6) Anchor Bangle,  C Wonder- $34 // Friendship Braid Cuff, C Wonder - $38 : This year I am so into nautical bracelets it's kind of an addiction. Anyone else with me? I think they are adorable this year! Especially stacked. Bracelets are also great if you want to go out somewhere after swimming. They easily store in your bag and can be put on in a matter of seconds...which is great because you usually don't have a lot of time to change!

7) Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray, Sephora- $26 : If you're sitting by the ocean, the salt water will give your hair beach waves for you. That's great but not all of us are able to get to the shore on a whim. With this hair spray you can get the same summer look as you would on the beach. I know this isn't cheap but if you live far away from the ocean and really want beach waves, it's one of the best options out there....and costs a lot less than an airplane ticket. I've tried the DIY salt water spray and it's just sticky and gross.

What are some of your favorite summer essentials? Let me know in the comments below!
Wishing you all a wonderful week!

Coral Clothes/ Accessories I'm Currently Crushing On!

May 5, 2014

Something about the end of Spring and beginning of summer makes me want mint and coral colored everything. Anyone else like this? I'd love to know why it's so addicting!! Just my nail polish box is proof enough. I have so much I could honestly paint an entire wall. And that's embarassing!

So since my addiction to coral is pretty crazy right now, I've decided to share some of my favorite coral colored items for April. And...if you guys really like it, I'll make future post on mint colored items too! Just let me know :)
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

1) Stitched Floral Crop Top, Forever 21, $10.80 : First of all, the price of this top is pretty crazy. Why I looove Forever 21. The lace detail is very romantic, and what I love about this is that there's a backing inserted from the chest down, so only the shoulders are sheer lace.

2) Shea Butter w/ Coconut & Hibiscus, Target , $9.09 : Target has some pretty awesome beauty products, and this is one of them. It's Organic, so you don't have to worry about yucky chemicals. Not to mention that it also smells amazing and makes your skin really soft!

3) Coral Creation Nail Polish, Forever 21 ,$2.80 : The nail polish at Forever 21 has really gone up a notch, and I am loving it! You can get really similar colors to more expensive brands out there, and lately some of their glittery nail polishes really reminds me Deborah Lippman's. This color is the perfect shade of coral in my opinion.

4) Color Block Floppy Hat, Dorothy Perkins , $21 : I'm not a big fan of floppy hats, but I definitely want to be...so I've been checking them out before I try one out for the first time. I think this one is perfect for a day at the beach or lounging by the pool. The woven fabric of the hat also allows some air to flow through it...so your head won't be as hot as it would with say...a baseball cap.

5) NYX Butter Lipstick in Lollies, Nasty Gal , $6 : NYX products have never let me down. For me they've always been very saturated in color and don't feel cheap in the least. I haven't tried this exact lipstick yet...but the color was too cute to resist putting on here! Plus, it has high reviews on Ulta.

6) Sunburst Coral Chain Bracelet, Asos , $28.22 : I'm a big fan of chunky statement pieces, and this is definitely one of them! The mix of gold, shades of coral, and sparkle makes it a conversation starter. Plus, I think it would be really cute stacked with a bunch of delicate bracelets. Anyone else into the arm candy look?

7) Coral Butterfly Sandals, Wallis , $35 : I love how these have a slight wedge to them. I don't know about you guys, but arch support is pretty important to me. Nothing like ending a day with super sore feet. Even if my sandals have a little wedge like this, I'm a lot happier than I am with plain flip flops. Man I sound old writing about arch support...lol. The best part is the gold butterflies on the front! They make them really unique and delicate looking.

8) LC Lauren Conrad 'Textured Circle Skirt', Kohls , $32.99 : The circle skirt is pretty ingenious because it flatters any body type and gives the illusion of a smaller waist. At least, that's what I've read multiple times in magazines. That in itself is the reason I love circle skirts, but this one by Lauren Conrad has a great texture to it that makes it look like it's made of a more expensive material. The color is also beautiful.

Wishing you all a wonderful week! As always, thank you so so very much to all of my amazing followers. You're the best, and I love to hear your comments and suggestions. So feel free to leave me a message here or on Twitter!

Luxe Stud Earrings For Less

Apr 28, 2014

1) Kendra Scott 'Morgan Stud Earrings', Nordstrom, $65 : This first one is a bit of a splurge, but I used it as inspiration towards the other earrings I chose for this post, so it deserves a spot up here. The iridescent look is still pretty big when it comes to accessories, and I think this is a great classic take on the look. Plus, with all the colors it reflects, it goes with almost anything! The size is also pretty large, allowing it to be a focal point to any outfit. I'd definitely consider saving money in the piggy bank for this one.

2) Lavender Hexagon Crystal Earrings, Max & Chloe$14 : The hue of the purple in this earring is great for upcoming spring barbecues and get-togethers. The hexagon is very prominent in itself, but the embellishments along the sides really bring these studs up a notch.

3) Oval Stone Stud Earrings, Topshop, $18 : These earrings are super luxe for their price and have a lot going on with them! Make them a focal piece to your outfit, or mix them with fun prints and patterns. I vote for tribal print!

4) Druzy Stone Earring, Urban Outfitters, $16 : I've seen earrings that look like this on Etsy for around $40, so I was really impressed by the price of these. They look like they're worth much more! I think they'd be perfect with a chambray shirt, striped skirt and heels.

5) House of Harlow 1960 'Sunburst Engraved Stud Earrings', Nordstrom, $28 : I love House of Harlow line just because of the obsession with geometric shapes! Contemporary and edgy, these earrings can easily become a focal point to your outfit. Don't let the size here fool you! They are pretty large!

Wishing you a wonderful week and as always, happy frugal shopping!

Colorful Crop Tops!

Apr 22, 2014

Hey guys! Today's post is all about crop tops! Colorful ones that is! I love these tops right now because they are so fun and unique...and can really bring out an outfit.

1) Tobi $27.00 // 2) Asos $18.81 // 3) Forever 21 $8.80
4) Monki (UK Only) // 5) H&M $6.95 // 6) River Island $34 // 7) Forever 21

Don't get me wrong, this kind of top can be a little intimidating at first. But don't worry about it...seriously! Crop tops paired with high waist bottoms (skirt, shorts, etc) only reveal a small amount of your stomach. Basically, the higher the waistline of your bottoms, the smaller the amount of stomach will be shown. So you can easily use them to your preference!

What celebrity do you think pulls off the best crop top look? My vote personally goes to Jamie Chung...she makes them look so polished and classic. A lot of celebs prefer showing more skin, but she doesn't--which is awesome!

Wishing you all a wonderful week! Enjoy the sun and warm weather :)

Music Festival Style: Floral Kimonos

Apr 5, 2014

1) Fashion Union - $38.49 2) H&M - $24.95 3) Tilly's - $32.99

With Coachella coming up next week, festival styles are back! I don't know about you guys...but I personally look forward to these styles all year round. The laid back indie look is perfect for warm weather and it goes so well with the grunge look! My festival favorite this year has been the floral kimono. What I like about them is that they are not only on trend, but can be worn from Spring all the way through Summer. The flowy, sheer materials can either keep your shoulders from getting too cold, or provide a nice breeze to your body when it's hot out. So it's pretty versatile!

HOW DO I WEAR IT?

  •  Keep It Simple - The indie style is very laid back, so you want to make sure you wear your kimono with something simple like a black tank top or v-neck.

  •  Fitted Is Best - Kimono's are big and flowy, so the last thing you want to pair them with is a maxi skirt. Too much bulk! Instead, wear them with form fitting jeans, pants, or shorts. A form fitting dress works too!

  •  Choose Boots, Heels or Sandals - They all work, and they all bring something different to your outfit.

  •  Accessories- Long pendant necklaces look great with kimono's but if you don't want to wear any jewels don't worry about it. Same goes for belts. For bags, think clutches or over the shoulder styles.

Wishing you all a great weekend!

My Very First #ootd Post! East to West

Mar 31, 2014

Sweater: TJMaxx (similar)  //  Tank: Forever21 stores only (similar)
Pants: TJMaxx (similar)  //  Boots: GILT (similar)
Necklace: Topshop old (similar , similar)

After several readers requested that I show some outfit posts, I recruited my boyfriend for photos and whaala, here it is! I hope you guys like!

I honestly wish some of you could have seen me try to pose though...freaking hilarious. I'm a big goofball so posing seriously was nearly impossible. That's why we have one photo today. x)

This was the first time I wore this tank top from Forever21. It was around $13 and I honestly couldn't leave it on the rack. It fits wonderfully and the graphic on it is low enough for it to work with a statement necklace (which we know I'm all for)! The other items in my outfit were from places like TJMaxx and Gilt so they probably aren't available anymore. But no worries! I've listed some similar styles if you're in love with something.

While I'm here, have any of you seen this new earring back trend going around? So rebellious and chic! I am dying to find some! Here's a really expensive example.

Liebster Blog Award!

Mar 30, 2014

Great news! I was nominated for a Liebster Award by Roxy from January Blonde! Thanks so much Roxy!

I had no idea what I had even been awarded yet and I was jumping up and down. Hey...it's my first blog award. I think I'm allowed to go a little crazy! For those like me who needed a quick summary...the Liebster award is an online award given from one blogger to another. It's a great way to promote and put the spotlight onto new and up and coming blogs.

The Rules:

1) You must link back to the person who awarded you.

2) You must answer the 11 questions given by the nominee before you

3) You pick nominees with under 200 followers (I  did some with a little more cuz I love them so much) to answer your questions

4) You cannot nominate the person who nominated you

5) You must notify your nominees that they have been nominated by you

Questions for Me:

1) What's your favorite thing to blog about?
Jewelry! Especially statement pieces. I have a personal obsession (no joke!) with jewelry so I'm pretty sure that's where it comes from :)

2) What inspired you to start writing a blog?
I grew up in an area where fashion and style is pretty important...and it shows. I remember being so upset in middle school because I was one of the only girls that didn't have a $300 Tiffany necklace. Middle school! But growing up I realized that "real" style doesn't have to have a high price tag....it's about wearing what you love, and knowing what to shop for and when to shop for it. Sure, the giant price tag is important to some. But not to me. I want to pass that knowledge along to as many people as I can.

3) What is one item of clothing you couldn't live without?
My sweatpants with the fleecy interior. I know, it sounds awful coming from a fashion blogger! But some days you really need your pair of comfy sweats.

4) What is on your summer wishlist?
A grungy graphic tank top, pom pom shorts, and a floppy felt hat.

1) Top - Modcloth $37.99  //  2) Wedges - Modcloth $39.99
3) Earrings - Modcloth $14.99  //  4) Purse - Accessorize- $9.00

Happy Spring everyone! It might not seem like it where a lot of us live, but soon it will be a time to wear big flowy skirts and sandals! So to hopefully get the warm weather on it's way a little quicker...today's post is all about pastels!
Pastels are trending right now thanks to New York Fashion Week. The colors go together stunningly, but if you are a little nervous about trying this trend out, start with one large pastel color paired with many neutrals. Think a robin's egg dress with grey tights, black shoes, and a striped blazer.

If you need some inspiration for pastel outfits, check out the latest board on my Pinterest for ideas. I'll be updating it frequently for you!

In other news, I want to give a big thanks to Rathana from FabFashionaire for choosing me as a Fashionaire of the Week! I highly suggest you guys check out her site if you have a chance...she has some great outfit ideas! And as always, thank you so much to all of my new followers! You're the best :)

Have a great week everyone!

Spring is when we buy boots! (Say what?)

Mar 15, 2014

Hey guys!

I saw a flower today...Spring is almost here! Are any of you as happy as I am right now? Because I'm pretty happy! The first time I thought I saw one it turned out to be a candy wrapper...

Today's post is...shh... a shopping tip between you and me :). In the Spring, stores want to get rid of their winter and fall shoe inventory. It makes sense...no one wants to wear boots in 90 degree weather! So if you've been drooling over a pair of boots all winter long from a really big brand...guess what? Now is the time to get it! Get the high end leather, buckles and accents you crave for a price that won't hurt your savings.

Here are some high brand boots that are have great discounts right now! I have a bunch more below as well for you to browse through. I just bought a pair of Steve Madden Partenon boots for something like $34 the other day at Lord & Taylor. Normally $100! I almost fainted when I saw that price.

Let me know if you get any great deals on winter boots! I'd love to hear! Sorry to sound like the biggest broken record ever but thank you so much to all of my new followers! It means a lot to me! Especially the comments I've been getting lately! Thanks for your wonderful comments guys!

Have a great weekend!
